Spinal Tap Redux

Well, there is no easy way to say this, but this past week, our drummer and founding member, Chris Sherman decided to leave the tree, so to speak. After weeks of personal reflection, he decided to leave the band. The split was amicable and we wish nothing but the best for him.

Meanwhile, Chris Rose has aptly taken his place.(Same first name, and a drummer hence the Spinal Tap reference) He stepped right in and played our Deja Vu show this past week. Road Apples, please don't fret! We are working on dates for May and beyond, so stay tuned. This is a new opportunity for the band and we plan on moving forward, FULL SPEED AHEAD....

Sad News In Appledom

Dear Friends, Family and Fans,

It is with great sadness that our brother, friend, and singer Matt Nevin (affectionately known as junior) lost his father to cancer this past Thursday. Brendan Nevin was a loving husband and father who, among many things, instilled his great love of music onto Matt. Brendan was a huge supporter of our band right up to the day of his passing. He came to many of the bands' shows and loved all the songs we played.  Matt's easy going personality, love for life, and dedication to his family were passed down from Brendan as well. There was a close bond which will be sorely missed.

On behalf of Chris, Mike, Dave and myself, we extend our deepest condolences to Matt, his mother Donna, and his brother Dave. Feel free to leave a post on our message board for the family, as your well wishes are needed at this time.

Sadly & Lovingly,
Jim & The Road Apples

Hope your stayin' dry, cause it's been raining in Chicago for the last day and half with know end in sight. That's the reason for this post. Our show this afternoon has been cacelled. This was to be an outdoor show and there's no way it's going to happen. We are truly sorry!! On to some better news. Over the weekend, we were added to the Itasca Oktoberfest, this Saturday Sept. 20th at 9:00 p.m. Details are on our schedule page. Also, we finally got pictures from our Orland show back in June. We'll post those tomorrow. That's it for now. Remember, a road apple a day keeps the flies away!!

Benefit This Saturday

Hello all in Road Appledom!!
Please go to our schedule page to get the details on our show this Saturday. Proceeds from the show help the Elks buy much needed supplies for our troops!! Normally we don't ask or command a $15.00 cover, but this benefits the BPOE and all that they do. Hey, you're still getting great entertainment and a free drink out of the deal. We hope to see you all there...
Thanks,
The Road Apples

The Songs are here

Hey there!!~
Finally, 2 new songs on the site. "She Didn't Know", by the Tragically Hip & "Paper Thin",by John Hiatt. We'd like to know what you think!! We're working on some more, but with summer here, our schedules are pretty hectic. That's all for now. Remember, a road apple a day means you're steppin' in alot of crap!!

Apple Update

Hey All!!
Sorry for the gap, but alot is going on. First off, thanks to everyone who came out to the Orland Hills Jamboree on the 21st of June. We had a blast! It was a great nite for drinkin' and jammin'. Still waiting for pictures. As soon as we get them, we'll post them.

Meanwhile, we have a show we're trying to get together in August, and on September 14th we'll be the headliner at the Lincoln Park Art Fair in Chicago. Details will be posted next week on our Schedule page.

Last, but not least, we finally got basic tracks down on 3 songs, including a Tragically Hip song.(You figure we'd have one since we named ourselves after them!) We hope to have them up in a couple of weeks. The month of June was our best month of site traffic ever! We had 742 visits from all over the world. We think a link on the Maven Peal sight had something to do with it, so thanks guys. That's it for now. We'll update in a couple of weeks...
